Conquering The Straits of Gibraltar

Congratulations to Dr Lennard Lee for his amazing feat yesterday by conquering the Straits of Gibraltar, dubbed as the Mt Everest of open-water swimming in terms of difficulty.

Previously, he also made us Malaysians proud by conquering the English Channel. And yesterday, he made us proud again by not only being the first Malaysian to swim across the Straits of Gibraltar, but also possibly the first Asian.

He was not the only one who conquered the Straits yesterday, he went along with his two university mates, Nicholas Berry and Harry Fisher. They managed to swin across the 22km Straits within 3 hours and 45 minutes.

Although the distance of the Straits of Gibraltar is shorter by about 11.5km than the English Channel, it is definitely more challenging. The waters in and around the Straits are very choppy and the temperature can drop to about 15 degrees celcius. There were lots of fishing boats around them but thankfully they managed to keep out of the way. There were sharks and killer whales too.

By the way, they were not wearing wetsuits to keep their body warm. They went in the waters in the most traditional way, not naked but only with trunks, goggles and swimming cap.

So, congrats again to Dr Lennard Lee and his buddies for the amazing accomplishment.

Info:

The Straits of Gibraltar separates Europe and Africa, situated between Spain and Morocco. The Straits connects the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediteraniean Sea.

On the northern side of the Strait is Spain and Gibraltar, while on the southern side is Morocco and Ceuta, a Spanish exclave in North Africa. Its boundaries were known in antiquity as the Pillars of Hercules. There are several small islands, such as the disputed Isla Perejil, that are claimed by both Spain and Morocco.

Fishing My Way To Made Of Honor

You guys should try this out. If you’re a Nuffnang member, then you’re in for a treat.

All you have to do is just visit Nuffnang’s blog and play the simple fishing game. It’s fun and cute, all you have to do is get as much score in weight as you can.

At first I was having problem to “catch” the fishes. But in the end I got the hang of it and got my highest score. I will try again to improve the score but in the meantime, here’s my score:

It would be the best birthday present for me if I win. *hint*

I found something new, PayPerPost

There are many money making websites out there growing rapidly. I have signed up with a few, namely the popular Google AdSense (I’m sure many of you signed up with Google too), local ads company like NuffNang and Advertlets, Bux.to where you have to surf some ad pages to get your cents, and now (which I think is better and more interesting), PayPerPost a.k.a. PPP.

I have come across a similar website like PPP. But I found out that PPP offers better scheme for bloggers where they offer loads of opportunities each week.

Opportunities are actual opportunities for your income through this scheme. All you have to do is sign up with PPP and add in your blog, that’s it! Then you browse through the opportunities section to search for your favourite topic or product to blog about. Then click on reserve opportunity where you will be prompt with a question (for security purposes). Answer the simple question and then you will see a form at the bottom of the page. Before filling in the form, write your blog about the topic first, then submit it in the form. Done. Instant $.

Yeah, getting $ by blogging on something you like is cool. Besides, if you’re having writers’ block, or in this case, bloggers’ block, then blog about something from PPP and get paid for it. Your site ratings will go up too.

For those of you who feels like getting a little side income from your desk job, join the blog network in PPP. Yes, I’m new too. But I believe this may help me a little bit for my monthly expenses *crossing fingers*.

So, thank you in advance, PPP.
