Short Burst

I’ve been busy with work again. Plus, I’m down with flu and slight fever. All that, I’m still at work with no leave. I know I must go on leave or mc before it gets worse. Unfortunately I have to deliver a few things at work by end of Tuesday, which is today. All that bz-ness, I don’t have time to upload the web files for Jazrul (my “client”) as promised. He will be waiting for his site to be up too. I hope that can be done today too.

Darn this flu…

Finally, a Time to Chill…

It has been three nights in a row that I had to stay back in the office with tons of work to get done. It’s been a long time since the last time I had to stay back. I remember it being almost 8 years ago. That’s how IT companies work. Been there, done that.

Now I finally got the time to rest and get things done one at a time. Apart from being busy with work, I was temporarily sick. This was right after lunch yesterday. I don’t know what I ate but seems that my stomach couldn’t keep it down. I won’t go into the details here, but you know the rest.

I hope that kind of sick feeling won’t happen again today. I really hate that.

This morning I woke up quite early, eventhough I didn’t get much sleep last night. I know that biological system has gone haywire these few days. I’ve been missing dinners, but not lunch. At least I had something for lunch. If not, it’ll be alot worse.

Sundance Music Festival is coming up this weekend. Geena’s friend, Purdey and her sis is coming to KL from Kuching to attend the festival. I was hoping to catch the Hitz.FM cruisers to get free tickets but due to my bz-ness, I don’t have the time to scout them. The tickets are expensive, at RM200 per person, I’d rather use that money for something else, like food. :-P

Oh yeah, F1 is starting this weekend too. First race is in Australia and then on to Sepang 2 weeks after. I can’t wait to watch the new line ups and new (and old) teams with their new cars. It has been a boring “break” from Formula 1 for me. During the F1 season, I usually won’t miss a single race and that usually kept me occupied during the weekends. Note to myself: subscribe to Sports channels with Astro.

It’s almost lunch time now. Gotta finish up something first and then I’m off to lunch but before that, I’ll finish up the free chicken karipap that I got from my boss earlier. ;-)

Loss of momentum

It’s been a hectic week, considering its only Tuesday. I have been extremely busy with work since these few days and last week. I will still be busy this week.

Apart from that, the stupid ADSL modem has been giving me headache with the frequent drop of connection to the internet. This has been a problem here in the office ever since the office got flooded during Raya time last year. All the equipments were in bad shape but thank god the server was saved. But the old modem and router suffered the most and now unusable.

We got ourselves a new router and modem. That was when the internet connection became unstable and we kept getting a drop connection once every 2-3 hours. I know I have to do something to prevent this from happening as most of the office work requires the internet. The content department especially must be online all the time for their research.

I finally found the solution….yesterday.

I Googled up for help regarding dropped connection using the Linksys WRT54GL router. I found out that there have been problems similar to ours. All I need to do is upgrade the routers’ firmware to an open sourced linux based firmware called Tomato Firmware. Good thing it’s not a rotten tomato. After searching for a solution, Tomato firmware really does the job well. Well….not that good yet. After upgrading the routers’ firmware into using Tomato, we experience less drop of connections. Unlike previously once every 2-3 hours. This time it lasts more than 6 hours without a single drop. That is good enough for us to keep connected for the whole day. My guess is that the linksys router we are currently using is not that compatible with our networking system, which is on the high-end side. I forgot what it’s called.

My HoD said that the router will become unstable after long hours of usage. At least the Tomato firmware helped abit in maintaining a good connection for longer hours. I know that it is not enough but I’m quite thankful for the great firmware. At least until we got ourselves a new high-end high performance router.

Little Waterfall

Who would’ve thought that there’s a small waterfall in Sri Damansara? It’s nothing to shout about but it’s a nice place to rest and take a bath when there’s no water supply in the nearby area.

The “small” waterfall is situated along Persiaran Meranti, opposite of Paradesa Rustica condominium. Not many people know about the existence of this waterfall and neither did I. Until one day I decide to check out why there are cars parked along the road during the weekends. I told myself, I gotta to check it out.

And this was what I found.

The water flows along the rocks as well as through the bamboo.

Hidden retreat?

People can take a bath in one of the many “pools” of water there.

The higher you go, the better the view.

A pool near the top of the small hill.

Surprisingly this place is clean and untouched. Let’s keep it that way.

It would have been great to have found out about this place during the recent water shortage in Sri Damansara area. But if people did find out about this place, it would not be as clean anymore. However, now I know where to get water supply and where to take a bath in case of another water shortage.
