Something that amuses me

I’ve seen many cool tag lines in some ads. Nike also have a good tag line for its products. When we say “Just Do It”, we know it’s by Nike. It is said that the tag line by Nike meant to tell people who have a desire to do something to do it without hesitation. When you’ve done it, you did it well the Nike way.

I see lots of Nike’s tag line everywhere. T-shirts, tv ads, posters, billboards…you name it. But I saw some hilarious Nike tag line everywhere too. Some people with Photoshop skills have their own way to create a few laughs with the brand’s tag line.

Tiger Woods surely smiles like that with what he’s getting from Nike.

He’s doing it.

But last night after I had dinner at one of the highway’s rest area, I saw a shop selling cheap t-shirts. As I was browsing through, I saw one that I think has a more positive tag line than Nike’s Just Do It. At least, it sounded like more of an achievement, rather than inpiring.

Just Do It? No no…I just DID it!

That sounds even better don’t you think?

Advertlets is the IN thing!

I have come across many online advertisement sites such as Google Adsense and one of the new local ad-site, Nuffnang. Now I recently signed up with a newer and more hyped-up online advertisement site called Advertlets.com. Advertlets is new, unlike Google Adsense who has been around for as long as I can remember (actually, its’ been almost two years since I signed up and I still haven’t reach USD100 mark). And what I foresee, Advertlets can make a big impact for frequent and active bloggers in terms of their side income.

Advertlets is quick in getting the impressions. I added the code in my website and without any delay, the first ad came out almost immediately. I signed up with Nuffnang too. But until now, I’ve yet to see any ads from them. They do require my site to have an average of 20 visitors a day, and guess what? My average for visitors have increased since January to an average of 40 visitors a day. I know it’s not much, unlike KennySia.com who receives a heck-of-a-lot of visitors per day. But my site is getting better in terms of daily visitors.

Okay, back to Advertlets.

Advertlets
Advertlets.com main site. Clean and easy to navigate.

The site is a brainchild of Josh Lim & Associates. I knew Josh as a great web designer when I was still a web designer myself. I have been admiring his “artwork” since. And now with the birth of a great ad-site called Advertlets, I’m sure to support him in any way I possibly can.

Advertlets2
No money yet. I baru sign up la.

At the moment, I don’t have much to say about the pay-outs yet as I only signed up with Advertlets a few day ago. But once I see any result from it, I’m sure to be writing more about Advertlets in near future. By the way, they are giving out RM50 to anyone who review their website and their services in your own blog. Which I think is cool. (That’s why I’m writing this review too, but then, I’m writing this review in support of Advertlets, not for the money.)

If you’re an active blogger and wish to earn a few extra bucks, do sign up with Advertlets.

Calling AllMalaysian Bloggers!

I received a Newsletter from TheStar one day informing me of the new AllMalaysian Blogger Project where they created a dedicated website for Malaysian bloggers in tune with Visit Malaysia Year 2007.

What’s the relevance?

Well, for one it is to promote Malaysia through various Malaysian blogger sites. Every week, they will have a featured blogger site in the main page of the Visit Malaysia Year website, which is cool I think. People from around the world can get to know more about Malaysia through Malaysians themselves.

See what AllMalaysian Blogger is all about:

All Malaysian Bloggers Project

What is it?
The AllMalaysian Bloggers Project (AMBP) is an undertaking of the folks behind the
AllMalaysia.info website, all of whom believe strongly in the freedom of speech. The objective of this little project is to gather ALL Malaysian blogs under one umbrella site from which (potential) readers can find the various blogs by theme.

Oh, and it’s also a contest. With amazing prizes sponsored by the good folk at Genting - City of Entertainment.

Who is it for?
Malaysian bloggers. Your blog can be about anything - as long as it’s not unlawful, pornographic or in, er, bad taste - but only those with a Malaysian slant will be considered for contest prizes.

So if you’re a Malaysian blogger, go ahead and register yourself at AllMalaysian Blogger website and be part of the bloggers community.

Through My SE Lens

240507-01

240507-02

240507-03

I haven’t been to Subang Jaya for a very long time. Having stayed there for 25 years since my childhood, many things have changed since. The Food Court area in SS15 where warong Ravi Roti Canai used to operate is now a modern food bazaar but alas, the place has lost its loyal customers to the nearby and more happening Asia Cafe. But at least the old Bee Pee Corner is still there, and the food is still good.

On My Things-To-Do List

I have many things that I want to do before I’m too old to do the things that I wanna do. (Huh?)

One of the item on my list of things-to-do is to climb Mt Kinabalu. We Malaysians should at least have the intention of climbing the highest peak in Malaysia right? It is a grueling task, but it can be done. I’ve always wanted to climb Mt Kinabalu, but I’m getting more inspired to climb Mt Kinabalu after reading a blog entry by a celebrity blogger, Kenny Sia on his recent expedition up the mountain with another well known talented blogger, Su Ann.

MtKinabalu

Geena would love to climb up the mountain too. It would be a wonderful and eye opening experience for both of us. Getting there is easy, but the journey up will be a challenge on our endurance. Geena is getting fit nowadays. Been running a few miles each day and maintaining her stamina. As for me, I have lots of things to do before I can start on my mountain climbing dream. There was one time then we came to my office but the elevator was not in working order. We had to climb up the stairs all the way up to 11th floor, which is the highest floor of my office building. First few floors was easy, but after the fourth and fifth, I was already out of breath. But Geena kept on climbing and left me a few flights behind. Clearly she is more fit than I am. Damn, I need to workout.

Yes, people say that Mt Kinabalu is one of the easiest mountains to climb. Actually it’s more walk than climb. But after reading Kenny and Su Ann’s blog entry on their expedition, it’s not as easy as I thought. It will be similar to that climbing 11 floors up the stairs at my office, or worse.

What about the expenses?

According to Kenny, the expenses for the trip is kinda affordable. To register at the park for guide, porter and park fees, is only RM70 per person. A stay at the Laban Rata rest house is only RM50 for a bunk bed. The only kinda expensive item is the plane ticket to Kota Kinabalu and perhaps a night stay in a hotel on the arrival date.

Whatever it is, we will make it happen. There is no greater experience to reach the summit of Mt Kinabalu other than achieving it together with the love of my life, Geena.

The date and time is not yet set. But you’ll notice an indication of it because I will surely make a big fuss before the trip. We might invite more friends or relatives to join us, then it’ll be more fun.

Care to join us?

Millennium Square, PJ

The reason I’m blogging about this place today is mostly because I’m letting people know about this new high potential shopping center in PJ that unfortunately, not many people know about. Those who knew, are those who stays nearby. The shopping center cum condominium opened it’s door to public earlier this year. Those who lives nearby are looking forward to the full occupancy of this shopping center, which has the potential to be a neibourhood friendly shopping center similar to Bangsar Shopping Centre (BSC) and Hartamas Shopping Centre (HSC). I say this because the design allows it. Honestly, it reminds me of Hartamas Shopping Centre.

One of the newly opened restaurant, Piccadilly.

Surrounded by the good old neibourhood of Seksyen 14 folks, I believe that this shopping center can be a good place for families to spend their weekends shopping close to home rather than travelling all the way to the jam-packed streets of KL. The nearby Jaya shopping centre is still popular, but not as big as Millennium Square (MS). And the almost completed Jaya33 will be a good rival to MS once it open for business next month.

Msquare10
They have a flea-market every weekend.

Walking through the flea-market.

It would be nice if MS is focused on being a family themed shopping center similar to BSC or HSC, and Jaya33 is focused more towards commercial type of shopping center similar to BB Plaza or Lot 10. The result? More people would travel to PJ for shopping instead of going all the way to KL. With the recent opening of Digital Mall, it shows that PJ is already offering whatever KL has. And with these two new shopping centers (MS and Jaya33), it’s no doubt that PJ, especially SS14 area will turn into a new shopping district in near future.

Msquare03
More restaurants along the balcony area.

Another view from the balcony.

I just hope that more people would know about Millennium Square and get more shops to occupy the space. I would imagine that if all the shops are in business, this place will be a good place to spend your weekend of shopping or just window shopping.

Msquare06
Part of the shopping center is still unoccupied.

Msquare07
Nice skylight roof brings in the natural sunlight during the day.

Having myself posting this blog to give free advertisement on behalf of Millennium Square to encourage people to set-up their business in this shopping center, I do have the thought of opening my own shop too. Fact is, I’ve been wanting to start up my own business one day and I considered this place as an opportunity. But, we’ll see how it goes. Truth is, I still love my office job.

Those who would like to visit the Millenium Square, here’s the address:

Millennium Square
Dataran Millennium PJ
98, Jalan 14/1, Seksyen 14
46100 Petaling Jaya
Selangor Darul Ehsan

Directions: Just head towards Jaya Supermarket (The big blue building) in Seksyen 14, PJ and go on the road behind that building (Jalan 14/25). Drive straight down the road for about 400 meters and you’ll see a junction turning left. There’s an apartment called the Menara Jaya on your left and Millenium Square is right opposite of it. There’s no way of missing the two buildings as they are the only two big ones in that area. If you miss it, you’ll need to get your eyes fixed.
