Finally I am back online at home. I bought a new USB WiFi adapter yesterday and I went home straight from work to test it out. Since my housemates are having a good time with their laptops and piggy backing on a free access point near my house area, I decided to join in the ride.
Actually I was the one who found the “free” access point about a year ago. I haven’t been connecting to it since my laptop was stolen and I lost my old WiFi adapter with it. (I’m still cursing those thieves). But this time there’s a new access point which has a better signal. Last time, I had to create a homemade parabola (here’s a story about it in my previous blog) in order to get a strong signal. With this “contraption”, I managed to get a 2 bar signal from the living room. But this new access point gives me a 2 bar signal even without the parabola. But I am going to create another one of this contraption when I have the time and that can possibly give me a 4 bar…at least. I got all these ideas on creating the parabola cum satellite dish from here.
I would like to thank whoever that owns that particular access point for sharing your connection with us, and sorry if we cause a lag on your end. Heh heh.
Urgh! I regret watching both of the aired live shows. Thank god for CSI and Spongebob for saving my sanity.
Other than that, no comment ler. Malas wanna story about the two live telecasts. Don’t wanna waste my energy typing out and blogging about them.
Which one are you all watching tonight? There are 2 things happening on TV tonight on TV3 and RTM / Astro.
First, there’s a live telecast on the (urgh!) “Wedding of the year” between Siti and Dato K. And the other is the revelation by another popular artist, Mawi, about his relationship with his ex-fiancée, Diana.
Wow…the things they show on TV nowadays. Whatever happened to all the important news and issues of the nation? All of a sudden these two “hot” stories became the topic of everyone’s discussion. We used to hear about the current issues of the nation. But these past few days it all has been about Mawi and Siti. Boring la wei. Just for the record, I don’t bloody give a damn. I don’t mean to be rude or harsh la but, kalau dah kawin tu, kawin je la. No need to air the adat bersanding live on national TV. Then what happened to the more important TV shows like “Bersamamu” on TV3? Hmmmm… if I’m not mistaken, one time I heard Siti said that she wanted to have a “majlis bersanding yang sederhana saja”. Eh? What?
Anyway. She is a great singer, a great artist and a Diva. I just hope she can realise that people are “watching”.
As for Mawi, well, I don’t have any comment about him. Whatever happened between him and Diana, should be solved between themselves. People are telling untrue stories about what really happened, so Mawi is trying to make things clear with everyone. What about Diana? She’s coming up with an album now. But I don’t remember her being in Akademi Fantasia. Oh yeah that’s right. She became famous since her relationship with Mawi was exposed. How nice. No need to compete in AF and yet ended up as a recording artist.
So, these two issues are the talk of the town today. Which one are you watching tonight then? Me? I’d be watching CSI instead, and after that, Spongebob on Nickelodeon. Lagi best tau!!
I should have done this in school or during SPM.

I found this article somewhere. Says that light exposure, even during the day, can quickly modulate regional brain function in areas involved in alertness and non-visual cognitive processes. So…go do your morning jogging or excersice to stimulate your brain functions. (Ron…you need this more often. Heh heh.)
“Exposure to light is known to enhance both alertness and performance in humans, but little is understood regarding the neurological basis for these effects, especially those associated with daytime light exposure. Now, by exposing subjects to light and imaging their brains while they subsequently perform a cognitive test, researchers have begun to identify brain regions involved in the effects on brain function of daytime light exposure.
The findings are reported by Gilles Vandewalle and Pierre Maquet of the University of Liège, Derk-Jan Dijk of the University of Surrey, and additional colleagues, and appear in the August 22nd issue of the journal Current Biology, published by Cell Press.
Our brain does not use light only to form images of the world. Ambient light levels are detectedby our nervous system and, without forming any image, profoundly influence our brain function and various aspects of our physiology, including circadian rhythms, hormone release, and heart rate. These responses are induced by a special non-image-forming (NIF) brain system, which researchers have begun to characterize in animal models.
In human studies, much work has focused on the effects of nighttime light exposure, but little is known about daytime responses to light. Especially mysterious are the neural correlates of these responses, and their temporal dynamics. Such issues are of significant interest given that daytime sleepiness is a major source of complaint in modern society and has considerable socio-economic implications.
In the present study, the researchers showed that a brief (21-minute) morning exposure to a bright white light increases alertness and significantly boosts the brain’s responses to an experimental test that requires attention only to sound. In a parallel neuroimaging analysis, this boost in alertness was found to correlate with responses in various areas of the brain, including regions of the cortex known to support performance on the auditory test. The regional brain changes were found to be highly dynamic, dissipating within a few minutes.”
Interesting….
