Modelling in 3D

No, not the catwalk type. This time, it’s modelling houses.

I never have any experiences in designing houses, let alone modelling it in 3D. But I found a simple software called SketchUp that allows me to design anything, simply anything at all in 3D. Especially made for architecture design as well as interior designs, this software is surprisingly easy to use. I have used AutoCad before but that requires perfect details in measurements.

Picture below is my first ever architecture design for a bungalow house. Check it out.

Not bad for a beginner eh? Well, if you’re wondering why I’m designing houses, it’s because I am practising a few designs before I start designing my own house that I can hopefully develop in 2006. It’s kinda like a trial run and getting used to the software. Perhaps when I’ve “mastered” the software, I can start designing houses instead. Change of career there. ;-)

Sunday outing

It’s been a long time since Gina and I went on LRT ride. So we decide to go to KLCC by LRT instead of driving there.

It’s a Sunday, that’s why it’s empty.

KLCC was really packed, crowded or whatever. You name it. Too many people in one square meter. Can hardly walk around. I guess those people were on their Christmas shopping.

Big *ss Tree.

We headed towards Aquaria, wanted to see the underwater lifeforms in the adjacent building also called KLCC (Convention Centre). But when we saw the entrance fee being RM28 (with MyKad), we decide to wait till end of the month instead (or when I get my bonus).

So, we just walked around, watching people rushing to buy Christmas presents for their friends and family. Then we had KFC for dinner coz we don’t feel like eating rice. After that, we headed home. Nothing to shout about, but it was fun.

On a Lazy Sunday Afternoon

Things are going pretty slow for me this weekend. With nothing much to do, I’m just sitting alone at home cleaning up my room and blogging. Well, blogging, at least that’s something to do ain’t it?

Gina is at work today. She will be finishing at 4 or 5 pm today. I’ll be joining her for lunch later near her work place. And I also have some groceries shopping to do, also to get some cat food for my 3 crazy kittens.

I wonder what Ron’s doing today. Probably at home in bed sleeping (with someone?) after a long night in Qba. It’s like I don’t need to ask him where he went the night before. Almost a routine that he will definitely be in Qba on Saturday nights.

Gotta get my day going. See ya’ll on Monday.

Error Message

I was evaluating a software called TransMac earlier and I saw an error message. I was laughing to myself when I read the error message. The error came out because of not enough space in CD while burning data onto it. But the message that came out was funny. Check it out.

“Where did it go? Did anyone saw it ran out the door?”

Amazing CGI

The technology is getting really advanced. Computer graphic technologies are getting more and more realistic. I still remember 15 years ago, where CG were just making a wave into computers, there was a big awe coming from graphic enthusiast. When I watch the 3D animation documentary, I was really impressed by the “new” technology then.

But today, CG is very common, especially in computer games and consoles. One of the first 3D game that I played was Quake. At that time, it was awesome. Then comes Quake 2, Unreal, Half-Life and Quake 3. Damn, those were the days. We gamers should know that living in those era, CG was at it’s ultimate realism.

How wrong we were.

From the image above, what do you think? A picture of someone taken during a shooting in medieval kinda film? Looking at it once, you are right. But actually not. Believe it or not, it is a computer generated graphic created by a graphic artist, Max Kor for CGnetworks.com.

Soon, maybe in 10 years time, games that we play will look like the picture above. Some of the current games such as Call of Duty 2 and Half-Life 2 are already crossing into the next level in computer graphics rendering. Same goes with XBox and the upcoming PS4. For computers, what type of processors and graphic cards do you need to support that kind of high end rendering? I think it will be more than 3GHz of AMD power and PCIe 16X graphic cards. Perhaps that time AMD will come out with 10GHz processing power and PCIe2 64X with 3GB of RAM? Damn…that would be good.

Now imagine this. If the graphic we are seeing in the games we play are as realistic as the picture above, will war games or those gory bloody scened games be gross to watch (or to play)? hmmm…
